You mustn't add salt to your meals, it's very unhealthy

Sodium and chloride, which are contained in salt, are two minerals that play an important role in health. Sodium is responsible for the transmission of neural impulses, and chlorine is responsible for the formation of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

The research conducted in the 30s of the 20th century showed how the lack of salt can affect human health. Four volunteers and one scientist participated in the research and temporarily gave up salt at all. Loosing the sense of taste followed by decreased appetite were two things that happened to participants first. Fatigue appeared the next in spite of normal vitals. Time passed and all four had decrease in sodium that appeared to be critical to life so the experiment was discontinued.

Salt is essential to regulate fluid balance and nerve function.

Carbs make you gain weight

We can survive on a no-carb diet. However, this kind of diet may cause fatigue and tiredness due to the fact that carbs are our body’s primary source of energy. Eliminating carbs in the long-run can lead to stoppage of glycogen production and instead of burning glycogen, our body will start to burn fat reserves (ketosis). It is important to realize that doing no-carb diet long-term may lead to heart disease, respiratory problems, metabolic disorders, and other dangerous consequences.

To lose weight, you need to give up fatty foods

It's all about what kind of fat you consume. Our body needs 20-35% of unsaturated fats daily out of the total food intake. These healthy fats positively affect libido, skin, hair and nails.

Lifting heavy weights bulks girls up

There is a misconception that lifting weights will make you look like a man. That could only happen if women takes special hormonal medications. In general, the female body doesn't have enough testosterone to bulk up as male body can.

To get a six-pack you need to exercise your abs every day

Of course you need to strengthen your abs. However, it is important to remember that that highly desired six-pack is hidden behind a layer of fat. First, you have to take care of getting rid of that layer. It is all possible following healthy caloric deficit diet.

If you sweat a lot, you burn a lot of calories

Sweating is helping to regulate body temperature when you're overheated. In order to burn fat you need to have a very intense workout, in which the body will take energy from fat reserves and convert it into sweat. Remember, that can be very dangerous, due to the fact that increased sweating can lead to dehydration.

As you can see, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions about fitness. You shouldn't unquestionably believe in all the information that you hear from others or find on the Internet. You must first check the validity of the facts presented to you before applying or following them. Otherwise, you won't achieve the results you want and negatively affect your health.
