How to use affirmations to take action

Our thoughts and ideas are material. They help change your life for the better and achieve the results you desire.

Conducting a study American scientists found that our brain is able to build new neural connections based on our experiences at any age. This phenomenon is called "neural plasticity". In other words, you can develop new skills and form habits at any point in your life, not only in the childhood.

Many people use affirmations to make their desires come into fruition. Affirmations help change your thinking patterns and neural connections, which assist you in making better decisions achieving your goals.

Affirmations are simple phrases or statements that are constantly repeated. They aimed to affect the subconscious mind, so that in turn, they affect our behavior, thinking patterns, habits and environment.

How do affirmations work?

They act as autosuggestion. We often inculcate certain attitudes, including negative ones, in our heads without even realizing it. The effect of autosuggestion can be clearly seen in the work of medics. When a patient is given medication for a while, it initially seems to help. But in the future, when the same patient is given a placebo under the guise of medication, the positive result will still remain. That's the way autosuggestion works.

Patients who stay positive and believe in a rapid recovery, actually get better very quickly. Unlike those ones having a negative attitude.

Here are 5 tips to help you formulate your affirmations right and effective:

1. Affirmations should be as positive and life-affirming as possible

Formulate an affirmative sentence in the present tense. The phrase should evoke positive emotions within you. Make it so that you want to say it again and again.

2. The affirmation should be made as a succinct statement

So that it can be easily remembered and repeated. There shouldn't be too many components. Come up with about 10 statements and work on them every day.

3. The goal you want to achieve must be real and concrete

Also it should depend only on you, not on a number of external factors that you personally aren't able to influence. No dream can come true if it is far from reality. For example, you won't be able to implement the affirmation "my height is 180 centimeters" when you even aren't as tall as 170. That's something that isn't up to you, no matter how hard you try.

4. You need to practice constantly

It is something that's better to do in the morning, after waking up, when your head isn't yet occupied with work issues and household chores.

5. Write down all the statement patterns that appear in your head

This will make it easier to remember and perceive affirmations.

Of course, there are always skeptics questioning the power of affirmation and claiming it to be a waste of time. But such phrases or statements, which we constantly repeat, don't just work as surreal flights of fantasy. They aid the brain in finding new ways to do things in order to materialize thoughts. Just roll out of your bed early in the morning, focus on the events that are important to you and soon you will realize that your plans are beginning to turn into reality.
